W-B/SCRANTON WINS SEVEN IN A ROW WITH WIN OVER ALBANY

groupJohn Curry made 25 saves to record his third shutout of the season, as the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins defeated the Albany River Rats, 2-0, Saturday night at the Times Union Center.

The win - the seventh in a row for the team - upped the Penguins' record to 39-24-0-3, and moved the team one point ahead of the River Rats and into second place in the East Division standings.

Kurtis McLean recorded his seventh game-winning goal of the season with his first period marker, tying the team record for game-winners in one season, previously set by Matt Hussey and Michel Ouellet. It was his 19th tally of the year overall, tops among all players currently on the Penguins' roster.

Ryan Lannon added an insurance goal 6:05 into the second period, floating a shot past Michael Leighton for his third goal of the season - a new single season career high for the defenseman.

Curry recorded his 19th win of the season, and dropped his goals against average to 2.07, second-best in the AHL this season behind only Leighton (2.04).
